New Acura MDX presented

Shortly after unveiling the MDX Prototype, Acura is presenting the production version of that preview to American consumers. This is the new Acura MDX, one

In October this year, Acura unveiled the MDX Prototype, a highly production-ready forerunner of the new fourth-generation Acura MDX that is now being exposed to daylight for the first time. It should come as no surprise that the final MDX strongly resembles the MDX Prototype and that means that the SUV is very recognizable as Acura.

The new MDX is the largest SUV offered by Acura in the United States. The model succeeds the outgoing generation launched in 2014 and is, like its predecessor, a seven-seater. With its tight folds, flat headlights and angular Diamond Pentagon-baptized grille, the model is topped with a design language that we know from this year’s facelifted TLX. The fourth MDX is more than 7 and almost 4 centimeters wider than its predecessor. The car extends over a distance of 5.05 meters, which makes it a competitor to cars like the Lexus RX in the United States.

The interior of the Acura MDX is very similar to that of the aforementioned TLX. The MDX will be available with a 294 hp and 362 Nm strong 3.5 V6, a machine that is linked to a ten-speed automatic transmission. Later this year there will also be an S version with a 360 hp and 480 Nm strong blown 3.0 V6. This variant is not only more sporty, but also more luxuriously dressed than its milder-minded brothers.

The starting price of the MDX in the United States is converted to just under € 38,000. In the Netherlands we actually do not know the MDX at all. Yet the model has been around for about twenty years. Acura has sold a total of more than one million copies of the past three generations in the United States.
