Where the fairing, the bicycle part and even the wheels increasingly use carbon fiber, aka carbon, that is now a rarity for the steering wheel. Until now, because at Louis they have added a carbon handlebar to the range under the product name Gazzini.
Carbon fiber, carbon, what a great material. It is lighter than aluminum, at the same time stronger than steel and can be processed into products with incredible stability: Formula 1 chassis, boat hulls, engine frames. In addition, carbon fiber composite material has the pleasant property of damping vibrations.
And now there is the first handlebar for motorcycles made of this material – made in Germany. Gazzini has brought in the carbon know-how of Thyssenkrupp. Indeed, the company that also makes the ultra-light carbon wheels.
It was clear from the outset to the engineers at Gazzini and Thyssenkrupp Carbon Components that the handlebars had to meet the highest quality and safety standards. That’s why the handlebars are made of a special composite material with continuous fiber threads that provide extreme stability and break resistance.
This is also confirmed by the TÃœV certificate, which allows registration in the vehicle papers. This is not important to us, but it is to our Eastern neighbors and that certificate indicates that the steering wheel meets all requirements.
The shape of the high-quality product, which weighs only 365 grams, corresponds to the Gazzini Street X handlebar. The handlebar has a conical shape, with a 22 mm at the handle part and 28.6 mm at the clamp. The inner diameter of 14 mm is also the same as that of an aluminum handlebar; so it is compatible with all common handlebar ends.
The Gazzini carbon handlebars are available for € 249 in the Louis online shop, including a TÜV test report.
