For sound you have to go to the A7
When you think of the Audi S6 and Audi RS6, you think of the roar of strong six and eight cylinders. You don’t hear it with this new S6 and RS6, because those cars are fully electric.
Normally with an Audi S6 (in Europe) you can count on a very strong 3.0 TDI and with the RS6 on a mighty 4.0 V8. It’s a different story with the next one, because they are fully electric. After all, Audi is switching to a different naming strategy, whereby the electric models are given even numbers (probably without ‘e-tron’ behind them) and the fuel models are given odd numbers. This means that the S7 and RS7 will soon be the real successors to the current S6 and RS6. The electric S6 and the RS6 that we see here are completely new within the Audi range.
In the first photo series you see the new electric Audi S6, in the second the new RS6. The best way to tell them apart at the front is to look at the bumper, where the RS6 appears to have some extra inlets. At the rear they are almost indistinguishable from each other, although the RS6 appears to have an extra spoiler lip on the tailgate.
In terms of drivetrain, they are of course not as far apart as the current fuel S6 and RS6. Both will have an electric drivetrain with two electric motors and, in the case of the S6, probably 490 hp. Where do we get that from? The PPE base on which they stand is equally well known and includes the brand new Q6 e-tron, which is also available as SQ6 e-tron. Expect the RS6 to reach or even exceed 600 hp. Of course, there will also be milder versions and there is also an Avant in the pipeline. For the time being, there does not appear to be an Avant version of the electric S6 or RS6.
