BMW has sent the upcoming 4-series Gran Coupé out the door. The slick five-door can be seen in action in a gloomy colored camouflage suit on the Nürburgring.
Munich is currently working hard on a completely new generation of the 4 series. That is good, because the current 3-series has been around for several months and that makes the 4-series Coupé, Cabrio and Gran Coupé standing higher on the prestige ladder on the technical level to somewhat outdated models. The 4 Series Coupé and Convertible have already been caught in camouflage suits several times, but the 4 Series Gran Coupé has kept BMW indoors for a long time. Until now.
The new 4 Series Gran Coupé, like its Coupé and Cabrio brothers, uses the platform of the current generation 3 Series, which means that the two model series will have strong technical similarities. Recently, BMW released the first official information about the 4-series (Coupé), a moment in which the brand announced, among other things, the arrival of the powerful 374 hp and 500 Nm strong M440i. Although the 4 Series Coupé and Cabrio will later also be available as M4, the M440i will probably be the top version of the Gran Coupé range. In addition to the fact that the Gran Coupé is a five-door liftback, the car also distinguishes itself with another feature of the 4-series Coupé and Cabrio.
The 4-series Gran Coupé can be seen as the more conventional brother of the already announced i4, a fully electric five-door BMW with the Concept i4 already gave a fairly accurate preview. Of course, the i4 distinguishes itself with its electric powertrain from the 4-series Gran Coupé, but the body will at least match. However, BMW will undoubtedly give the i4 a set of its own design elements. Think of different bumpers, according to the i-label responsible blue accents and a dense grille. The kidney grille will cover almost the entire height of the muzzle on both the 4 Series Gran Coupé and the i4. More later this year!
