The day before the unveiling of the new BMW M3 and M4, the German manufacturer already partially shows the top versions. Wednesday the smoke clears completely.
At the beginning of the summer we were introduced to the new BMW 4-series, now at the end of the summer BMW is coming with the absolute top version. At least, in two days. The M3 is revealed in one smooth movement. Of course they are already very excited in Munich and that is why they are sure to lift a tip of the veil. The details are literally still shrouded in mystery, although some of the new wheels can already be seen, for example, the large air intakes next to the kidney grille and the thick diffuser at the bottom of the rear bumper.
Fortunately, BMW has been kind enough to clarify what can be expected on the motor level. The M3 and M4 have the famous blown 3.0-liter six-in-line in the nose, which now produces 480 hp. This means that they are already 30 hp more powerful than the previous Competition versions. The new Competition versions will have a 510 hp version of the same engine. A six-speed manual transmission is standard in the new M3 and M4, while the M Steptronic automatic transmission is standard in the Competition. It will of course also be added to the order list of the regular M3 and M4. The basically rear-wheel drive powerhouses are also available again as xDrive. We will know more on Wednesday.
