A few weeks ago, BMW pulled the curtain off the new 4-series Convertible. Just before that, the new M4 was presented. Now a combination of those two shows itself!
The new BMW 4-series Convertible brings back an old acquaintance; the fabric hood. It is the first time since the E46 that an open 3-series derivative no longer has a steel pop-up roof. In that respect, there is a clear longing for the past, although this is less recognizable about the rest of the car. Although the 4-series is immediately recognizable as a BMW, it mainly draws its own plan at the front. The same goes for the just a little earlier revealed M4. The nose that is already quite eye-catching in itself is even more extreme. Whether it is your taste or not, it certainly stands out!
Add those two cars together and you have the car in front of you, which is still partly camouflaged here. The open version of the M4 makes the necessary test laps at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. Of course it is the same 3.0 six-in-line with two turbos that is kicked on its tail here. 480 hp and 550 Nm shoot to the rear wheels of the M4 Cabrio, which will of course be a bit heavier than the Coupé. Whether there is also a 510 hp strong Competition version and xDrive on the shelves remains to be seen. The previous M4 Convertible kept it here ‘just’ with one motorization and rear-wheel drive. What seems certain in any case, is that there will be both a manual six-speed gearbox and an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission. Everything will probably become clear early next year.
