Plugin stunner
Earlier today, the BMW 5 Series with M Performance Parts gave another nice preview of the new M5, but of course we have to wait for the real thing. The new BMW M5 also happens to show itself again.
With the M Performance Parts, both the BMW 5-series (and i5) sedan and the Touring already look nice and thick and ‘M5-like’, but we are still eagerly waiting for the one and only M5. It has now appeared in front of our spy photographer’s camera again and judging by the minimal camouflage, the unveiling is not too far in the future.
Despite the camouflage, it is already clear that the M Performance Parts are indeed quite close to the decoration that will soon give the M5 a considerably sportier appearance. You will probably recognize that you are dealing with a real M5 by the even thicker diffuser and the four large round exhaust tips.
It is still exciting how much power the new BMW M5 has at its disposal, but it has been clear for some time that it will be a plug-in hybrid. There is a good chance that he looked behind the scenes of the BMW XM for its drivetrain. That would mean that a V8 and electric motor together may deliver well over 700 hp. Then we use the figures of the XM Label Red. The ‘milder’ 635 hp powertrain is of course also an option, which would at least put it ahead of the new Mercedes-AMG E53.
