Honda has repainted its flagships in the touring segment, the GL1800 Gold Wing and GL1800 Gold Wing Tour, for model year 2023. In addition, the fat tour buffalo has received a small technical update.

Since its introduction as a naked 1000cc machine in 1975, the Gold Wing has been the pinnacle of two-wheel travel, earning the title “King of Kings” within Honda – the “King of Motorcycles” with the CB750. In addition, it has built an enduring and unrivaled reputation for luxury, quality, style and comfort.
What started as GL1000 in 1975 grew over the years via GL1100 and GL1200 in 1987 to GL1500, with the four-cylinder boxer engine having given way to a six-cylinder boxer engine, to be upgraded to GL1800 in 2001. With each new version, Honda had taken luxury and comfort to the next level.
For model year 2018, a reborn version of the model appeared. Weight was drastically reduced, a double wishbone suspension was introduced at the front and the six-cylinder boxer engine was brand new, with a different bore x stroke of 73 mm x 73 mm (was 74 mm x 71 mm) and a slightly larger displacement of now 1,833 cc (was 1,832 cc).
With advanced technology such as a seven-speed automatic DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission), a 7-inch TFT display, gyrocompass navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, an electric windshield, smart key control, four driving modes and Hill Start Assist, Honda also adapted the Gold Wing to the current era of electronic assistants.
For 2023, both Gold Wings will receive new colors. The GL1800 Gold Wing is available exclusively with Honda’s unique Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) and will be available in the new Iridium Gray Metallic/Mat Pearl Morion Black livery, with red detailing on the engine.
The GL1800 Gold Wing Tour with DCT and airbag will receive two new colors for 2023: Graphite Black with brown crankcase covers and Beta Silver Metallic/Iridium Gray Metallic. That color range is complemented by the popular Pearl Glare White, which will be continued after 2022. The handsome Graphite Black option is also available with manual transmission.
An additional safety-focused upgrade for 2023 for both the GL1800 Gold Wing and GL1800 Gold Wing Tour comes in the form of a new Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) integrated into the 7-inch full-colour TFT display. Tire pressure is displayed in the lower left-hand corner of the instrument panel, and the new TPMS provides a clear and bright warning light if the pressure is not optimal.
