Bentley design boss signs with Volkswagen

There is a real musical chairs going on in the design departments of the Volkswagen Group. According to the German Automobilwoche, a new draftsman will take the throne of Volkswagen’s design department from February.
In December, Volkswagen announced that Michael Mauer may call himself the new overall design boss of the Volkswagen Group. Mauer succeeds Klaus Zyciora – formerly Klaus Bisschof. Before Klaus Bisschof was promoted to chief designer of the Volkswagen Group in 2019, he was the design boss of the design department of the Volkswagen car brand. The Slovak Jozef Kabaň succeeded Klaus Zyciora as design boss of Volkswagen in 2019, but Kabaň is now also making way for a successor.
And that’s not the least. According to the German Automobilwoche, Andreas Mindt will be on the design throne of the Volkswagen brand from February 1. Mindt is currently Bentley’s design chief. In turn, Bentley will of course not remain without a design boss. Tobias Suehlmann currently Head of Exterior Design is at Bentley, at Bentley is promoted to Design Director.
Whether the transfer from Mindt to Volkswagen means that their models will look different? Possibly in the long term, but adapting a brand’s house style is often a gradual process.
