The major renewal round within Groupe PSA also has a favorable effect on DS. That brand will eventually expand its relatively small European delivery range with a completely new DS 4. That car was packed in a test suit and surfaced in Spain.
DS had to do without DS 4 for a long time. The car started its career in 2010 as a Citroën DS4 and was marketed under the DS brand after 2015. From that year on, the hatchback simply called DS 4 was facelifted that same year and was accompanied by a raised and tougher bumper work DS 4 Crossback. In 2018, the two French had left the Dutch market, but next year the well-known model name will return with a completely new generation DS 4!
The new DS 4 will most likely share its technology with the next generations of the Opel Astra and Peugeot 308. What is going on under the camouflage material covered coach is still a mystery. Groupe PSA has a completely new platform in its development chambers, a VMP-baptized modular base of which also a special eVMP variant is coming. The platform is intended for models from the C-segment and above, although Groupe PSA indicated that it only wanted to use this electric version of the platform in 2023. Should the DS 4 be placed on the new platform, a fully electric version will also appear. The eVMP platform is suitable for battery packs with a capacity of 60 kWh to 100 kWh. However, there is a chance that the new DS 4, like the next generation Peugeot 308, will use a further development of the current EMP2 platform. In that case there will be no fully electric DS 4. However, a plug-in hybrid will appear.

As before, the new DS 4 will probably be available in two versions. In addition to the regular version visible in these photos, there may be another DS 4 Crossback covered with cross-over accents, complete with black plastic wheel arch rims. We do not expect the new DS 4 to be on the market before the first half of next year. Opel will produce it alongside the Astra at its factory in Rüsselsheim.
