Ford is working hard on a new model range of the Ranger. The little brother of the F-150 will of course get a sporty Raptor version. That powerhouse drives himself in the spotlight for the first time today.
Ford has an all-new generation of the Ranger in the development chambers, replacing the 2011 model. Ford does not only have the F-150 strong Raptor flavors, the current Ranger also has such a variant. Of course, Ford keeps the Raptor version alive and this first series of spy photos is the first proof of that.
Ford F-150
The Ford Ranger, a competitor of the Volkswagen Amarok, Nissan Navara and Toyota Hilux, seems to grow a size during its generation change. On the muzzle of the model in the photos, the famous Ford emblem is clearly visible in the grille, which appears to be flanked by C-shaped headlight units as we know them from the F-150, among others. Which power source is hiding under the hood remains to be seen. The current Ranger Raptor has a 213 hp and 500 Nm strong 2.0 biturbo diesel engine in the nose.
The current Ford Ranger Raptor
Those who intend to replace their current Ranger with the new type should be patient until 2022. Incidentally, Volkswagen Amarok owners should also keep a close eye on 2022. Last year, Ford and Volkswagen expanded their collaboration. Ford indicated that Volkswagen will come with a pick-up based on the new Ranger. This is of course the successor to the current Amarok, which with year of birth 2010, just like the current Ranger, is ripe for a successor.
