Each main brand has its own function

The Volkswagen Group is making some changes in the top layer of management. Among other things, the group will have a new design boss: Michael Mauer.
Since 2020, Klaus Zyciora – formerly known as Klaus Bisschof – was the Head of Volkswagen Group Design. The overarching design boss. Zyciora was, among other things, in charge of the design of the ID models of the Volkswagen Group. He – who incidentally already started working as an interior designer at Volkswagen in 1989 – is thanked by CEO Oliver Blume for his efforts. Klaus Zyciora, 61, will start working outside the Volkswagen Group.
Of course, the group does not have to do without a Head of Design. Michael Mauer – currently Head of Design at Porsche – is now also Head of Design for the entire Volkswagen Group. He also held that position between 2015 and 2020. Mauer was, among other things, in charge of the design of cars such as the 911 (991), Panamera, 918 Spyder, Macan and Taycan.
The Volkswagen Group is also deploying new people with final responsibility for departments such as Quality Management. Michael Neumayer, currently Head of Quality at Audi, succeeds Frank Welsch who is retiring. Neumayer will also remain responsible for Audi’s quality department.
The German group hopes to bring the brands Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche closer together. Within the Volkswagen Group, Volkswagen is mainly responsible for production and purchasing, Audi for sales and quality and Porsche for design and development.
