New Honda Civic Type-R rolls packed muscles

New Honda Civic Type-R rolls packed muscles

Fans of hot hatchbacks, when they hear the model name Civic, think of the Type-R rather than the Tourer or the Sedan. We have good news for them, because we can show you the first official images of the new Honda Civic Type-R.

The addition ‘Type-R’ provides warm feelings for many Honda and car enthusiasts. We know the designation from the Accord, but especially from the Civic. The new generation Honda Civic may be technically quite calmed compared to its predecessor, that does not mean that there is no fierce Type-R. AutoWeek was previously able to show photos of a camouflaged test sample and now it is Honda itself that releases photos of the new Civic Type-R.

Honda Civic Type-R Limited Edition

Honda Civic (current model)

Honda has designed the new Civic Hatchback and Civic Sedan less bombastic than the outgoing model and that line is continued on the Type-R. Although the body of the new Civic Type-R is still covered with a tight sticker sheet, it is clearly visible that the body has been decorated with fewer large holes and cooling openings. The new Type-R will certainly not be boring. For example, Honda places a heavy rear spoiler at the bottom of the rear window and we again see three exhaust tailpipes in the middle of the diffuser at the bottom of the buttocks. Remarkable: with the outgoing Civic Type-R, the outer two exhaust pipes have the largest diameter, with the new model the middle copy is the thickest exhaust pipe.

The new Honda Civic Type-R stands on large sporty-looking alloy wheels with Brembo brakes behind them. According to Honda, the new hot hatch is ready to sink its teeth into the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. What the new Civic Type-R will power is not yet officially known. The current model has a 320 hp 2.0 four-cylinder under the hood. Next year we will know more, then the new Civic Type-R will be on the market. Will that also be the case in the Netherlands? We keep our fingers crossed. The importer confirms to AutoWeek that the new Civic Type-R will enter the market at least in Europe.
