Honda will pull the curtain off the new HR-V later this month, but unfortunately for the brand, the patent plates are already on the street. The images confirm that the HR-V undergoes a major metamorphosis during its generation change.
The last generation Honda HR-V was recently taken out of production, which is not surprising in view of the arrival of a completely new generation. The competitor of the Renault Captur and Citroën C3 Aircross, presented in 2015 and relatively conservatively designed, is succeeded in a much more eccentric-looking model, we concluded earlier on the basis of an extensive set of spy photos. Today we can show you the complete exterior of the new HR-V thanks to the Facebook page of one Vanhoe Rage.
The Honda gets a carriage with not only a significantly higher nose, but also a completely different line. The rear window is now a lot flatter, which gives the crossover an almost coupé-SUV-like appearance despite its not extremely steeply sloping roofline. Also striking are the headlights, which are a lot higher in the front and are remarkably flat. They are somewhat reminiscent of the viewers in front of the Honda SUV: e-concept. The new HR-V will have a grille made up of horizontal slats, although a car can also be seen with a grille made up of ‘dots’.
We are aiming for Honda to base it on the Jazz just like before. The HR-V will at least get the e: HEV powertrain from that family member. You do not have to expect non-electrified machines, the same applies to diesel engines. After all, Honda indicated in 2019 that it will provide every car destined for Europe with an electrified powertrain from 2025.
HR-V in the Netherlands
The last HR-V, which started its life in 2013 as ‘Vezel’, has not been able to break any pots in the Netherlands. Since the re-introduction of the model name in 2015, less than 2,000 HR-Vs have been sold in our country. Only in 2016 (587 units) the car sales figures exceeded 500 units. In 2017, 2018 and 2019, 389, 308 and 307 units were sold successively. Last year, sales fell to 223 copies.
