Want to keep your old Porsche up to date? This has been possible for some time with modern Porsche entertainment, but the manufacturer is now adding new systems to that range. The PCCM-plus system is available for three models from the ‘0s’ of this century.
The new PCCM Plus system, as Porsche calls it, is available in two variants. The first is suitable for the 997 generation of the 911, which was delivered between 2004 and 2012. This system is therefore also suitable for the Boxster and Cayman of the same period, the 987. The second version of the PCCM system has been specially developed for the first generation of the Cayenne.
That this distinction is made is logical, because the systems are intended to fit seamlessly into the original dashboard design. According to Porsche, this applies not only to the physical buttons and the frame, but also to the digital environment itself.
Despite the ‘period-correct’ appearance, the PCCM environment does offer all modern functionalities. This includes DAB + radio, a modern navigation system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Navigation arrows are also visible in the instrument panel as was originally the case, while a built-in on-board computer provides information via the touchscreen about consumption, among other things. The system cannot speak Dutch, because for the time being we have to make do with German, English, Spanish, French and Italian. What all that costs? €1,688, regardless of model.
If you have an older Porsche, you could visit the Porsche shop before. For some time now, the brand has been supplying a similar, but more compact system for the so-called 1-DIN format, plus a double-Din screen for all older Porsches that have the space for it.
