It strongly seems that Nissan, following the example of Volkswagen and BMW, will also use a different logo. Patent drawings have surfaced of a new logo for Nissan in general and for its Z models.
It seems that a true trend is emerging in the car industry: one brand after another seizes the beginning of the new decade to start using a new logo. Volkswagen already underwent a change last year, Kia will follow this year and BMW is also working on it. Now we can add Nissan to that list. A completely new Nissan logo has surfaced in patent applications in the UK and several South American countries. It is instantly recognizable as Nissan, but has been greatly simplified from the current logo. That is also the same approach as that of VW and BMW.
In addition to the logo for the entire brand, the well-known Z logo also seems to be changing. One surfaced earlier this month in Canada Nissan registered patent for a new Z logo (photo 2). ‘New’ in this case is relative, because connoisseurs will immediately see that the Z with the dash through it is very similar to the Z logo that was already used with the Datsun 240Z. So the more simple Z we saw on the modern Z models will probably make way for this retro one. Incidentally, there is currently no concrete view of a new Z; the ancient 370Z has still not been followed up.
