New Maserati GranTurismo shoots past

Maserati is leading the all-new GranTurismo (and GranCabrio) through the final stage of development. The curtain will go off later this year, but Maserati is already showing the GranTurismo itself.

Of course we don’t get to see the new Maserati GranTurismo in detail yet, because there is still a layer of concealing stickers on it. Still, there’s plenty to say about the new GranTurismo thanks to the new footage. The basic shape of the sports coupe does not cause any big surprises, the nose a bit more. It will be quite different from what we are used to, with a good dose of MC20 lines. As far as can be seen, the GranTurismo also takes some distance from the current generation at the rear, including with a lot flatter taillights. To put it bluntly, it seems as if a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti and a Jaguar F-type had a pleasant evening.

Underneath the completely new coach there is of course also new technology. That is even the biggest news at the GranTurismo. Both the GranTurismo and the GranCabrio will also be available in all-electric form. The current GranTurismo, dating from 2007, is passing the baton to a very contemporary successor. Maserati previously promised that the GranTurismo and GranCabrio will nevertheless ‘sound familiar’, so we can expect something of an artificial engine sound. What the electro athletes will achieve in terms of performance is still coffee grounds. Even when releasing these photos, Maserati is not making any statements about this. We await it in suspense. If you don’t want an EV, you can still fall back on a petrol version.
