The ink of the brochure of the new Mercedes-Benz C-class is barely dry when Techzle can already show you the first photos of the extended version of the new C-class sedan.
The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Transport has published its monthly list of type approvals for new vehicles and parts. The 315-page document not only lists new or renewed passenger cars, but also new concrete mixers, garbage trucks, sharpened headlights, trucks and so on. Techzle has managed to emerge the new extended C-class from there.
Mercedes-Benz C-class
Beijing Benz, the partnership that Daimler has in China together with BAIC, will deliver this extended C-class in China later this year. The shorter version that will soon be delivered in Europe will not be delivered to the Chinese market. In any case, the new C-class L will come to the Chinese market as C200L and C260 L. The first has a 170 horsepower blown 1.5 under the hood, the second a 204 horsepower 2.0 four-cylinder turbo engine. More interesting are of course the dimensions.
Where the new C-class Sedan in Europe is 4.75 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2.87 meters, the L version is of course a bit larger. It measures 4.88 meters in length and is therefore no less than 13 centimeters longer. The wheelbase of the Chinese C-class is 2.95 meters, which means that the distance between the front and rear axle is 8 centimeters longer. The wheelbase of the new extended C-class is therefore even 1 centimeter longer than that of the E-class. Fortunately for the Chinese consumer, Mercedes-Benz also only supplies that E-class in an extended form, a version with 3.08 meters between the wheels. The extended C-class will not be marketed in the Netherlands.
