Nissan will be pulling the curtain on a completely new Pathfinder in a few days. Shortly before the unveiling of the new SUV, the brand shows a teaser of the fifth-generation Pathfinder.
Nissan has been assembling the current fourth-generation Pathfinder since 2012. That makes the Rogue’s big brother, known here as the X-Trail, one of the older models in the Nissan range. On February 4, Nissan pulls the curtain on a completely new-generation Pathfinder.

Nissan Pathfinder (2012 -)
Just like the outgoing fourth generation, the new Pathfinder will have a self-supporting body. The current model is in fact a technical brother of the Infiniti QX60. A completely new generation of that QX60 is in the pipeline, a car of which the QX60 Monograph already served as a concrete harbinger. It is evident that the new Pathfinder and the new QX60 are technically similar. The front or four-wheel drive Pathfinder, of which in addition to a petrol version with V6, a hybrid version will probably also be available, will soon offer space for seven passengers. It is also not inconceivable that Nissan will equip the Pathfinder with the blown 2.0-liter four-cylinder with variable compression. The current Pathfinder is 5 meters long, making it longer than both the more expensive Murano (4.89 meters) and the cheaper Rogue (4.65 meters).
The new Pathfinder can’t come early enough as far as Nissan is concerned. The car operates in a market segment that is particularly popular in the United States, a segment in which the Pathfinder faces cars such as the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander. In 2019, Nissan sold just under 66,000 Pathfinders in the United States. Last year, the model’s sales counter stuck at 48,579 units. This means that the Parthfinder sells less well than, for example, the Sentra (94,646 units) and Altima (137,988 units), but better than entry-level sedan Versa (48,273). The Nissan Rogue was Nissan’s most popular model with just under 228,000 units sold last year, although this includes both the Rogue (X-Trail) and Rogue Sport (Qashqai). Murano SUV also found more new American owners with a sales number of 58,255 units last year.
