New Nissan Qashqai up close

The Qashqai has proven to be an absolute cash cow for Nissan. The crossover is now in its third generation. We can now view the new model range better than ever!

The Qashqai is a complete hit. The crossover is currently Nissan’s best-selling model in Europe, followed by the Micra, X-Trail and Juke. In the Netherlands, the Qashqai is the Nissan that attracts the most customers to the showrooms. Last year, 5,725 copies were sold, considerably more than the traditionally ever popular Micra, which, with 3,205 copies sold, has to tolerate the Qashqai amply for itself. Everyone is therefore looking forward with interest to the arrival of the next model series of the Qashqai, which has now been portrayed better than ever.

Nissan should also not wait too long with the launch of the new Qashqai. The current second generation was presented in 2013 and then facelifted three years ago. Although the car is still quite popular, its age is starting to play tricks on it in the sales charts. The crossover has dropped some places and that can be traced back to a lot of younger competitors. The unveiling of the Qashqai III was scheduled for later this year, although its launch may be delayed to early 2021.

Nissan IMQ Concept

Nissan IMQ Concept (2019)

Little can be said about the appearance of the new third generation Qashqai. However, it is likely that Nissan interspersed the body with design details from the Juke and the IMQ Concept, a prototype that the Japanese presented in Geneva last year. The new Qashqai probably uses a further development of the current CMF platform. Count on the arrival of a variant with an ePower powertrain, so an electric version in which a petrol engine acts as a range extender that can charge the battery pack. In addition, you can expect a plug-in hybrid, whose powertrain has been developed in collaboration with alliance partner Mitsubishi. A fully electric Qashqai will not be available, as the brand has created the Ariya, presented earlier this year. The Qashqai will soon be joined by a bigger brother, the X-Trail. The first photos of that new SUV recently surfaced online, even if it concerned the North American version that goes through life there as Rogue.
