New Nissan X-Trail already on display

Nissan has a completely new X-Trail in the development chambers, and it’s that new generation of SUV that has seen the first patent plates emerge.

It is 2013 when Nissan releases the current X-Trail and Qashqai. The two closely related models share their version of the CMF platform with, among others, the Renault Kadjar. Both the Qashqai and the X-Trail have already been facelifted, which means that the next renewal round consists of a complete generation change. The database of a Brazilian patent agency shows the first patent plates of the new X-Trail.

The X-Trail, a car that is often called Rogue outside the European borders, remains true to the concept of its predecessor and that means that you have to see the SUV a bit short-sighted as a Qashqai XL, the X-Trail features in Europe, for example, about a third row of seats which makes it a seven-seater. These patent plates therefore give away to a certain extent what one can expect from the design area of the new Qashqai. The X-Trail gets relatively flat headlamps and a more angular and much wider version of Nissan’s V-Motion grille. The whole is somewhat reminiscent of the muzzle of the new Juke, although the X-Trail has to do without the set of lighting units spread over two ‘floors’. Again, at the D-pillar, we find a sharp cut in the shoulder line and the back can be characterized as a relatively sober whole. No light bar or chrome strip running across the entire width of the carriage here.

The price list will in any case include DIG-T petrol engines and it is in line to be expected that in any case the international engine list will also include dCi diesel versions. For the first time, the X-Trail, and probably the new Qashqai, will be available with electrified powertrains.
