New on Netflix: April 2020

Netflix makes a slew of new series and films available every day. On iPhone we look ahead every month at the new offer with the best tips. These are often new series and films, but also old favorites that appear on Netflix.

1. The Willoughbys

The Willoughby kids are not fond of their selfish parents. So they decide to send Mom and Dad on vacation so they can be on their own. Of course, the kids soon find out that things are not as easy as it seems. Featuring voice work by Jane Krakowski, Ricky Gervais, Maya Rudolph and Terry Crews, among others.

Airing on Netflix from April 22.

2. The twelve

In this exciting Belgian series, twelve citizens are called upon to act as jury in a special case. School principal Frie Palmers is suspected of murdering her friend and her daughter.

Yet the series is not initially about Palmers, but about each individual jury member. It slowly becomes clear how the jury and the suspect are connected. It is also up to the viewer to determine whether Palmers is guilty or not.

Airing on Netflix from April 17.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Brad Pitt has received an Oscar for his role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, director Quentin Tarantino’s latest film. This film is about the last moments of Hollywood’s golden age, with an actor (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stuntman (Pitt) in danger of losing their job. Also starring Margot Robbie and Al Pacino.

Airing on Netflix from 13 April.

4. Nailed It! (season 4)

Nailed It! is back with a season of misfires. The hilarious concept has remained unchanged: people who can’t bake have to recreate a cake. That never goes well, but the bungler who does their best goes home with the money.

Available on Netflix from April 1.

5. Howl’s Moving Castle

Studio Ghibli’s animated films continue to pour in on Netflix, this month including the insane Howl’s Moving Castle. In the film, a young woman is turned into an old lady by a witch. Then she meets the special wizard Howl and his walking castle.

Defending Jacob – April 24

In this new series, Chris Evans plays a father whose son is suspected of murdering another child. Is he going for the truth, or does he believe his son he loves so much?

Beasty Boys Story – April 24

This documentary follows the intimate story of the formation of the band Beastie Boys and the friendship between the band members. The documentary is directed by Spike Jonze.
