Bergen Opel news today. This time the announcement concerns the Insignia. It will get a new petrol engine.
Opel is putting a new version of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine on the international engine list of the Insignia revised at the end of last year. It is a 170 hp and 350 Nm powerful derivative of the blown 2.0 liter petrol engine that is a step below the existing 2.0 four-cylinder, which is good for 200 hp and 350 Nm. Both power sources are always supplied in combination with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Average consumption, according to Opel, is 6.0-6.4 l / 100 km. Note that this is measured according to the poorly accurate NEDC cycle. With the 2.0 Turbo of 170 hp, the Insignia sprints to 100 km / h in 8.7 seconds. Its top speed is 228 km / h. We are awaiting a response from the Dutch importer whether the power source is also coming to the Netherlands.
Currently, the Insignia’s Dutch engine range consists of two petrol and two diesel engines. On the petrol level, the already mentioned 2.0 Turbo of 200 hp is the entry-level model since the possible temporary absence of the previously presented 145 hp 1.4 Turbo. One step above that is the 2.0 with a power of 230 hp, which distributes its power over all four wheels via the nine-speed automatic transmission. This engine is only available in the sporty Insignia GSI. As far as diesels are concerned, there is a choice of a 1.5 CDTi with 122 hp with a manual six-speed gearbox and a 174 hp 2.0 CDTi that comes with both a manual six-speed gearbox and an eight-speed automatic. The version with automatic transmission has four-wheel drive.
This post will be completed as soon as we learn more about the new 2-liter with 170 hp.
