New petrol entry-level vehicle for Mercedes-Benz S-class

Mercedes-Benz puts a new petrol engine on the price list of the latest S-class. The power unit is directly the most modest petrol engine with which you can get the S-class. In this case modest is, of course, very relative.

The new Mercedes-Benz S-class presented earlier this year has been on the Dutch price list since the beginning of September. The absolute top of the Mercedes salmon can be ordered with three different diesel engines, but the choice of petrol was very limited until now. Until now, the new S-class was only on the price list as the S500. The 435 hp and 520 Nm strong 3.0 six-cylinder is now joined by the more modest motorized S450 4Matic.

The all-wheel drive S450 4Matic basically gets the same 3.0-liter straight-six as the S500. In the S450, however, that petrol engine delivers 367 hp and 500 Nm. Like the S500, the S450 also features a 48v EQ Boost system that is able to temporarily deliver 22 hp and 250 Nm extra. The six-cylinder coupled to a 9G Tronic automatic transmission takes the Benz to 100 km / h in 5.1 seconds. This is only 0.2 seconds less than the stronger S500. The top speed of the S450 4Matic is 250 km / h. This ‘S’ is also available in the extended Lang version.

Price Mercedes-Benz S450 4Matic

Mercedes-Benz charges a price of € 135,688 for the S450 4Matic. De Lang is on the price list as S450 4Matic from € 139,560. This makes them about € 16,500 cheaper than the S500s. However, the S450 4Matic is not the cheapest engine version of the new S-class. That title goes to the € 130,682 (€ 135,120 for the Lang) S350d. The 286 hp entry-level diesel is still the only rear-wheel drive S-class on the Dutch price list. You can order immediately.
