New Porsche 911 GT3 almost tack-free!

The Porsche 911 is already available in numerous versions, but we do not yet know a very hard 911 GT3 of the current model. This brand-new set of spy photos shows that all-new 911 GT3 from all angles, and virtually without camouflage material.

On and around the Nürburgring-Nordschleife a test specimen of the new Porsche 911 GT3 has been found that is not camouflaged except for a few small patches. Anyone who thinks that this heavily spoiled 911 will be the definitive top version of the Porsche 911 is wrong. In time, Porsche will not only supplement the 911 family with a GT3 RS, but also with the mighty and probably again based on the 911 Turbo GT2 RS. However, that doesn’t make the ‘regular’ 911 GT3 any less interesting.

The question is which power plant Porsche is in the back of the new 911 GT3. The GT3 version of the previous 911 generation debuted in 2013 with a 482 hp 3.8 six-cylinder boxer engine, a block that was based on the heart of the then current 911 Carrera S. In 2017, the GT3 version of the 911 became ‘991.2’ presented, the facelifted version. That version exchanged its 3.8 for a 4.0 liter six-cylinder boxer engine, a derivative of the machine that powered the 911 GT3 R and the 911 Cup racers. That 4.0 stamped out no less than 500 hp and 460 Nm. Porsche may be further developing that engine in the new 911 GT3. Count on a power that will be around 520 hp. Indeed, the amount of horsepower that the GT3 RS from the previous 911 ultimately provided. The yet to be revealed new 911 GT3 RS may creep up to 550 horsepower. The power is probably distributed to the wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. However, the last 911 GT3 was also available with a manual transmission with the Touring Package. If Porsche is following the same path as with the previous 911 GT3, the new version’s engine will be based on that of the current Carrera S. That means that the new 911 GT3 will have a 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder. However, that is not very obvious.

Regardless of which engine the new Porsche 911 GT3 gets, it will be an impressively spray-painted sports version with the body laced with large cooling openings and a heavy rear wing. At the bottom of the widened bottom of the 911 GT3 we see two centrally placed tailpipes in the middle of a hefty diffuser. A unveiling of the new Porsche 911 GT3 will probably not be long in coming.
