New Renault Master on its way: in pictures for the first time!

The current, third generation of the Renault Master has been around since 2010. Four-wheelers do not last forever in delivery van land either, so Renault is working on a successor. This first image proves that the new Renault Master is coming.

When it comes to vans, there is usually less of a rush for complete replacement than with passenger cars. After all, fashion reigns supreme there, while the shape and volume of a cubic meter of loading space usually changes little over the years. With facelifts, new interiors and new drivetrains, the life of a van can usually be extended well.

Ultimately, however, all good things come to an end and so Renault now sees the need for a completely new Master. Renault’s largest orderer will therefore also receive a completely new body, although this profile does not reveal anything too shocking. After all, it remains important that as much stuff as possible can be stored in such a Master, but there is still a lot to see. For example, the roofline slopes slightly at the very back, the ‘shoulder line’ of the windows is different in shape and new ‘folds’ are intended to give the flanks a sleeker, more modern look. The nose is of course also completely new, with (at least on certain versions) large, vertically positioned LED headlights.

The new bodywork not only looks smoother, but according to Renault it is. Partly because of this, the electric version of the Master would be 21 percent more energy efficient than the current one, while the Master with diesel engines burns 1.5 liters less fuel per 100 kilometers. That counts, because these types of vehicles are usually always on the road.

Renault Master

The current Renault Master

Unlike the two previous examples, there will be no Opel variant of the Renault Master with the name Movano. Since 2021, that bus has been based on the Fiat Ducato, which, with its year of birth 2006, is considerably older than the current Master. A Nissan variant, which has been called ‘Interstar’ instead of NV400 since 2021, will undoubtedly come again.

No Volvo

This Renault Master has nothing to do with the previously announced collaboration between Renault and Volvo Group. This includes fully electric delivery vehicles and will start in 2024. This Master will be unveiled very soon and, as mentioned, will also be available with combustion engines. Volvo Group is the company that deals with trucks, marine engines and other heavy machinery, and has nothing to do with Volvo’s passenger car branch, which was purchased by Geely. Renault Trucks distinguishes itself in a similar way from passenger car Renault, and is part of the Volvo Group. The Master is a Renault product, but is also marketed by Renault Trucks. The collaboration concerns Renault (without ‘Trucks’) and Volvo Group.
