In anticipation of the official unveiling of the Skoda Fabia that will take place in May, Skoda already shows some sketches of the B-segmenter. However, the design drawings do not provide any major surprises. The Fabia is a bit bigger than its predecessor and has some style characteristics of current Skodas.
It is not the first time that the new Fabia comes by. Our spy photographers already captured it on film and Skoda itself also released images of the camouflaged hatchback. Before that, however, our illustrator was already able to make a good estimate of the appearance of the new Fabia. That estimate appears to be reasonably correct. The sketches show sharply defined headlamps that connect to the wide grille with vertical bars. The air intake in the front bumper can be closed for better aerodynamics, according to Skoda. The back of the renewed Fabia is not yet visible, the rising window line returns to the side.
Skoda now shows the lighting in more detail, where it is striking that in the lower part of the headlights are the well-known LED stripes. The LED rear lights have the ‘crystalline’ pattern, which is also a style characteristic of contemporary Skodas. The new Fabia now stands on the same MQB A0 platform as the Volkswagen Polo and measures 4.11 meters in length, 1.78 meters in width and 1.46 meters high. That is 11, 5 and 1 centimeter more than the current model, respectively. The wheelbase increases by 9 centimeters to 2.56 meters.
Next month, Skoda will finally pull the curtain on the new Fabia, later this year it will be at the dealers. In terms of engines, only the well-known 1.0 TSIs with 95 and 110 hp initially find their way to the Netherlands. In time, there will also be a Fabia Combi, but it is not expected before 2023.
