YangWang

The large BYD is launching a brand new sub-brand: YangWang. We are introduced to the U8, an SUV, and the relatively cheap hypercar U9. On paper, promising cars, which are only intended for the Chinese market for the time being.
BYD (Build Your Dreams) is gradually becoming a well-known player in the Netherlands as well. With the Atto3, Han and Tang, it hopes to take a solid slice of the EV pie with this. In any case, this is already working wonderfully well in its home country of China, BYD is the largest manufacturer of fully and partially electric cars worldwide, largely thanks to sales in China. So serious guys. BYD now wants to try it a little higher and has created the new premium brand YangWang for this, we read carnewschina. Under that very Chinese-sounding name, it is currently launching two models on the Chinese market; the U8 and U9.
Yang Wang U9
We’ll start with the U9, because that’s the most spectacular of the bunch. It is a real electric hypercar that, thanks to four electric motors, should be able to shoot from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2 seconds. How much power the four engines generate together is unknown. You bet it’s at least close to 1,000 horsepower. Nice and nice, but do you still have a little driving range? That is also not yet known, although the U9 would have BYD’s ‘latest technology’ on board. Perhaps the much-discussed ‘Blade Battery’, with which a relatively compact battery should be good for an excellent range. The most eye-catching thing about the YangWang U9 is its price tag. The hypercar has to come to the Chinese market for roughly €140,000, which makes it a relative bargain.
Yang Wang U8
The second newcomer hardly differs in name from the U9, but otherwise it is a completely different car. An SUV that must be able to hold its own in rough terrain. The 5.3 meter long U8 is equipped with four electric motors with a total of 1,100 horsepower and – just like the GMC Hummer EV, for example – has a crab mode. Furthermore, the car can rotate 360 degrees on its axis, thanks to the four separately driven wheels. Very special: anyone who drives into the water with the YangWang U8 would float. Then it’s just a question of how to get back on the side. If you have solid ground under you, you can reach 100 km / h from a standstill in 3 seconds. The YangWang U8 will soon be available in China from the equivalent of €140,000. As mentioned, nothing is yet known about ambitions with YangWang outside China.
