Bad news for those who already had their wallets at the ready after viewing the first photos of the new Subaru WRX: Subaru has no plans for the time being to bring the brand new sports sedan to Europe.

The new Subaru WRX is not coming to the Netherlands. The Dutch importer reports to Techzle that there are currently no plans to bring the youngest WRX to our country. For the enthusiast a disappointing but possibly not too surprising message. Subaru previously decided not to bring the thoroughly renewed BRZ to Europe.

The new WRX, which has not yet been presented in STI trim, is a promising model on paper, complete with an extravagant appearance and a 275 hp and 350 Nm strong 2.4 blown four-cylinder boxer engine. Subaru’s latest WRX has an aggressive Levorg muzzle, heavy plastic trim all around and also comes as a sportier GT version with adaptive dampers, special sports seats and a new automatic transmission. The non-GT has a six-speed manual transmission, but has to do without those extra attributes.

Subaru will probably also come with a new WRX STI in the long run, the van subaru tecnica International – Subaru’s ‘M-division’ – derived version that just once could kick up to about 400 hp and almost 500 Nm strong.
