Shortly after the new Suzuki debuted in concept form during the Japan Mobility Show, AutoWeek can already show you the final production version. The actual new Suzuki Swift hardly deviates at all from the Swift Concept and that is good news for those who were charmed by that study model.

The Japan Mobility Show in October was the stage on which many Japanese car manufacturers showed wild study models. Suzuki also included a number of concept cars that were clearly still far from final production versions. The Swift Concept was an exception. It looked as if it could be placed in the showroom without any adjustments. AutoWeek can now show you the real new Suzuki Swift. What seems? The new Suzuki Swift indeed resembles its harbinger like two peas in a pod.

The new Suzuki Swift can hardly be distinguished from the Swift Concept. This means that the new model can also be clearly recognized as Swift, even though almost everything is different. The new Swift has a different appearance, especially at the front, with its relatively high hood and low-positioned headlights. The narrower grille, which is no longer interrupted by a license plate, contributes to this. The interior of the new Swift is also identical to the cockpit that Suzuki installed in the Swift Concept, complete with 9-inch infotainment screen. The new Swift is 3.86 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2.45 meters. The wheelbase is therefore the same as that of the previous model and the Swift does not grow in length either.

Suzuki is not yet generous with new information about the technology. We do know that the Swift will be available in its home country of Japan with a new 1.2 three-cylinder, a mild-hybrid machine that is linked to a CVT. In Japan, versions with all-wheel drive will also be available. Suzuki is currently the only one that offers four-wheel drive cars in this segment in Europe, so there is a good chance that that customer base can again count on Allgrip versions with the new model.
