Or not
An image of what apparently is the new Toyota Camry has surfaced in an American video from Toyota itself. However, there are some snags to this story.
The image comes true a video from Toyota USA that is not specifically related to the Camry. It compares the advantages (no, not disadvantages) of buying and leasing. One of the examples shows a sedan that we are not yet familiar with. It is clearly a Camry, but apparently new from front to back. The design of the front fits well with other current Toyotas, such as the new Prius and the bZ4X. Could this be Toyota’s way of ‘teasing’ the new Camry for the North American market that is still so important for that car?
Everything seems that way, but there is still a very big ‘red flag’ with this story. The somewhat converted image looks like two peas in a pod a ‘render’ from a Photoshop artist known on YouTube and Instagram as ‘TheOttle’. Exactly: a sketch that may or may not be based on spy images or concept cars, which we at AutoWeek are not averse to either. TheOttle also responds on the appearance of the sketch in the Toyota video. He says he is honored, but also wonders whether Toyota or the agency responsible for this video knows that his drawing is used in it. New Camry? Probably not, although TheOttle has been right more than once…
