New Volkswagen Golf R chases across the ‘Ring

A new generation Golf naturally demands a range of sporty variants. We already know a number of them, but we still have to wait for the tastemaker of the sporty Golf range. However, we can already see that Golf R in action at the Nürburgring.

On the eve of what the Geneva Motor Show should have been, Volkswagen pulled the curtain on three sporty variants of the Golf: the GTI, GTD and GTI. The GTI has a 245 hp 2.0 TSI, a power source that will soon have to recognize its superior in the machine that Volkswagen hangs in the top version of the Golf: the R.

This new set of espionage plates shows a test specimen of that sportiest Golf, which is only briefly covered with camouflage material. The Golf R gets two exhaust tailpipes on either side of its buttocks, is apparently quite close to the asphalt and is on strong light metal with more powerful braking behind it than, for example, the GTI. The perforated writing on the front is an example of this.

What the Golf R will drive is not yet certain. We do know that the R version gets a more than 400 hp 2.0 TSI that distributes its power to all four wheels. The new Golf R is obliged to be more rapper than its predecessor. So count on a Wave that sprints to a speed of 100 km / h in 4.5 seconds or less. We expect a disclosure later this year.
