This year, Volkswagen is launching an electric equivalent of the Passat: the ID7. But Volkswagen does not forget the Passat itself. After all, there is a completely new generation of Passat in the barrel. These photos show the new Volkswagen Passat Variant in white test suit in action.

The next generation Volkswagen Passat will be a special one. It seems to be the last series of the D-segmenter that still gets combustion engines. In addition, it comes for the first time in its existence only as a Variant. At least, in Europe. The new Volkswagen Passat Variant has been caught again. The test team did some effort to disguise the new model as the current Passat.

The next generation Passat will soon roll off the line in Bratislava together with the new Skoda Superb. Although there will be no four-door Passat sedan, Skoda does seem to be introducing a Superb sedan in addition to the Superb Combi. As far as powertrains are concerned, you must of course bet on an extensive range of engines, including the well-known TSI machines. The Passat will also receive one or more plug-in hybrid powertrains. We expect the new Volkswagen Passat to be on the market this year, just like its Czech sister model from Skoda.
