The brand new Volkswagen Tiguan will probably make its appearance this year and is now appearing in public again with some special stickers on it. For the first time we also see the new Tiguan with R trim.

Almost a year ago we received the first sign of life from the next generation Volkswagen Tiguan. The successful SUV brother of the Golf can compete with combustion engines one more time and it may be the last Tiguan ever, or Volkswagen will eventually have to return the type name to a successor to the ID4. In any case, one thing is clear: the new Tiguan is probably mainly interesting for the more conservative customer, which is one of the reasons why the SUV retains its well-known lines. The car does get a front that is more reminiscent of that of the current Golf and the carriage is more voluptuous.

For the first time we see the new Volkswagen Tiguan with R decoration passing by. The black copy in the photos with this article is clearly a bit thicker than the white Tiguan. The new Tiguan itself already has a pretty solid face thanks to large air intakes in the front bumper, but the R package takes it a step further. The bumpers are also more angular at the bottom and we also see some other sills and striking new alloy wheels. At the back we only find stickers that should look like sporty exhaust tips, but the actual exhaust is well hidden. We are most likely dealing with a modest Tiguan with R-line decoration here, not with a Tiguan R. It remains to be seen whether the Tiguan R will be followed up. It is not available in the Netherlands and it is highly questionable whether this will change.
