Three new SUVs in one fell swoop
Honda presents no less than three new models for the European market at its European home base in Offenbach: the Honda ZR-V, the Honda CR-V and the electric Honda e:Ny1.
In all three cases, we have already seen American and/or Chinese versions, but today we are introduced to the European variants of three new SUVs from Honda. With the Honda ZR-V, a completely new model line starts, which comes between the HR-V and the CR-V in the range. A real middle size, or a ‘Civic Cross’ after the example of the Toyota Corolla Cross. Another similarity with that car is that the Honda ZR-V is always a hybrid in Europe, in this case with the Civic’s 184 hp powertrain.
We have known the Honda CR-V as a model line since 1996, but the CR-V is now entering its sixth generation. It has grown on all sides, gets the sleek design that we know from the Civic and is now also available as a plug-in hybrid for the first time. With a large electric range, low CO2 emissions and a larger luggage space, this seems to be by far the most interesting version for the Netherlands.
Finally: the Honda e:Ny1. That name raises many questions, which we only get partly answered at the manufacturer. We’ll have to make do with it, but luckily the car is less questionable than the name. The e:Ny1 is an electric HR-V, although the interior and exterior differ on a number of essential points. With a driving range of 412 kilometers (WLTP), the e:Ny1 is certainly a lot more usable than that other electric Honda, the cute ‘E’.
