We are in the new Mercedes-Benz E-class. Underneath there is a digital revolution.
Can he still keep up with his electric brother the EQE?

A new Mercedes usually also means a lot of new technology. The new E-Class is no different. The car is chock-full of systems from front to back that not only make life easier, but also a lot safer.
E-class on the digital highway
From the outside, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class is still immediately recognizable by its classic sedan shape. But underneath it is completely new. The Benz is full of new systems that should make staying in the car even more pleasant and, above all, safer. The electronic architecture required for this has therefore been completely turned upside down. Functions that used to require several computers now use a single processor. Take, for example, the screens and the MBUX infotainment system, which now run on one central, significantly more powerful computer. This increases the network performance and especially the speed of the data flow, both inside the car and outside.
In the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class, more systems work on one central computer.
Your iPhone as a key
You can still open the new E-class in the conventional way with the key/remote control, but you can also use your iPhone or Apple Watch. Of course you can start it with that if you wish. You can also assign this functionality to the telephones of 16 other people. This way you can use the car with the whole family. In addition, you can give certain people different rights. The simplest right of use is only opening the car, for example to take out a school bag. Earlier we saw that it is possible to set a speed limit for certain people, so that someone who just got his driver’s license does not immediately run off at top speed.
Your phone in your pocket is enough to unlock the car and start the engine.
MBUX Superscreen
At an additional cost, Mercedes supplies the new E-class with an MBUX Superscreen. This makes the dashboard seem like one large glass screen, behind which not only the central multimedia screen is hidden, but possibly also an extra screen for the co-driver. While you and your passenger look at one of the displays, the car keeps an eye on the occupants. To begin with, there are infrared ‘eyes’ that monitor whether you are not falling asleep or whether you are trying to watch a movie with your passenger. If the latter is the case, the system automatically dims that screen, making it difficult to monitor. That’s a slightly different solution to the same problem than we recently saw in the EQE SUV, by the way. In that electric sports utility, the film is interrupted until you focus your attention on the road again. Such a film can also be a TikTok film in the new E-class, that app is simply in the car. And for those who feel like a game: Angry Birds is in the system.
Not only can the camera on the dashboard take selfies, you can also participate in Zoom meetings with it.
We also see a camera in the middle of the dashboard. You can use it to take selfies, but also for Zoom measurements. Indeed, Zoom is also part of the installed apps, just like Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal and Apple Music. All in all, the new E-Class is just one step ahead of its electric brother – the EQE.
