340 hp and four-wheel drive. The Volkswagen ID Buzz GTX is a lightning-fast VW van. But there is a completely different reason.
The Volkswagen ID Buzz is already quite a head turner in its normal trim. Yet it can be much crazier, and Volkswagen proves that with the GTX. Just like other models from the sporty corner of the ID series, the ID Buzz GTX is also richly equipped with high-gloss black accents, the characteristic double triangle LED daytime running lights, thick wheels and honeycomb. In addition, VW’s paint mixers have created a special cocktail, Cherry Red, that remains exclusive to the GTX. Just as GTX-only are the black headliner and the dark upholstery with red stitching and piping. An enormous panoramic glass roof is optional, which can be made transparent or opaque using liquid crystals.
Also with long wheelbase
The Volkswagen ID Buzz GTX is available with a normal and long wheelbase. The normal one is a five-seater as standard, with a three-seater rear seat that folds down in 40:60. Option is a six-seater, with three rows of two seats. The LWB is also standard as a five-seater or six-seater according to the above recipe. On top of that, you can also order it as a seven-seater, in 2/3/2 configuration. The middle row of seats in the short wheelbase can be moved by 15 cm in the direction of travel; for the LWB this is 20 cm.
In the SWB five-seater, the boot space varies from 1,121 liters to 2,123 liters with rear furniture flat. In the LWB this is between 1,340 and 2,469 liters. With the third row of seats in, there is still 306 liters left.
4Motion by two electric motors
The regular ID Buzz is propelled by the well-known 210 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle. For the GTX, it receives support as needed from an 80 kW strong asynchronous motor between the front wheels, making it a 4Motion. This is especially interesting because the towing weight of the ID Buzz increases considerably. While the normal ID Buzz can tow 1,000 braked kilos, the LWB GTX can tow 1,600 kg and the short version even 1,800 kg. This makes the fast ID Buzz interesting for people in equestrian sports, boat enthusiasts and caravanners. The ID Buzz GTX will go from 0 to 100 in about 6.5 seconds.
Two batteries: 79 or 86 kWh
Finally, the energy supply: the ID Buzz GTX with a normal wheelbase has 79 kWh, which will probably reach a range of 390 km. Charging is possible with a maximum of 185 kW. Thanks to more space between the axles, the LWB can accommodate the 86 kWh battery. It will probably take it 420 km and charges with direct current at a maximum of 200 kW. The Volkswagen ID Buzz GTX is expected in our country in the second half of this year.
