Although the Baleno already disappeared from the Dutch market in 2019, we are closely following the life course of the Suzuki and its derivatives. That brings us today to India, where Toyota is carrying out a facelift on the Glanza.
When hearing the model name Glanza, car enthusiasts undoubtedly think of that fast, right-hand drive Starlet of the last generation. However, Toyota has been applying the Glanza name to a less sporty model since 2019. The current Glanza is nothing more than Suzuki Baleno, sold in India, on which Toyota has stuck its own badges. The Suzuki Baleno recently went under the knife for a second time and that means it’s now time for the Glanza to get its new face.
The Glanza presented in 2019 was fitted with exactly the same front as the Baleno, which had just been facelifted for the first time. It is striking that Toyota has given the facelifted Glanza a more unique face. The shape of the headlights is the same, but we have had the similarities with the Baleno. The headlights have a different layout, the Glanza has its own front bumper with large black plastic parts and C-shaped aluminum trim around the fog lamps. Perhaps the most striking is the grille. Where the Suzuki Baleno has a large grille, Toyota gives the Glanza a flatter copy that is split by a chrome-colored trim. However, the rear and interior of the Glanza will be renewed in the same way as the Baleno.
Fun fact: Toyota sells the Baleno-Glanza in various African countries with another well-known model name that has been on the shelves for a while: Starlet.
