Niels van Roij creates Adventum Coupé

After previous creations, the Dutch designer Niels van Roij worked on a new project as a Tesla Model S Shooting Brake. This three-door Adventum Coupé is the result.

Niels van Roij Design has therefore realized a three-door Range Rover. When you think of the Range Rover SV Coupé concept car from 2018 when you think of its new creation, you are on the right track. Land Rover then showed a concept car of a three-door Range. The goal was to eventually produce 999, but on closer inspection it seemed smarter for the British to turn their hard-earned money into more realistic future plans. For example, the plug was pulled from the SV project. As a result, the client of this new Adventum approached the Dutch designer. He insisted on having one! The result is a one-year project in which Van Roij enlisted the help of various experts.

1.49 meters

The body of an existing Range Rover has been used as a starting point. Especially the side view of the Adventum demands attention, because from the front screen the side is completely different. The new door construction is the most striking. The rear doors make way for handmade front doors that are 1.49 meters wide. The entire B-pillar must be moved for this. According to Van Roij, the design of the door seam was the biggest challenge. “That stands or falls with the design. If it were a straight line, it would look like the car is breaking in half. ” Six different trials preceded the final design. “We first tried all the designs on the existing side with a lot of tape and a pen. This is the result.” According to Van Roij, the fairly simple design of the car is a problem. “You see every little mistake right away!” Bas van Roomen is responsible for the construction of the new door party. “Carpentry, grinding, clay: Niels initially thought it wouldn’t be a lot of work. However, it turned out to be quite a job. ” In addition to the B-pillar, the moldings, the windows, all electronics and the original functions also had to be modified.

Teak

Nothing is done about the roofline; therefore, according to the Brabant designer, the car retains its classic image. The front and back also remain – except for new logos – the same as the original. Inside, all materials used are shoveled and make way for the highest quality leather and wood. Van Roij: “Every detail counts. For example, we talked endlessly about the thickness of the wire for the covering. ” The red color of the leather is ultimately a bold but appropriate choice. For a better entry to the luxury seats in the rear, a new construction has been built so that the front seats slide forward and up at the touch of a button. For the trunk Van Roij wanted a floor that would consist of the high-quality teak. “But why not also in the front?” The result is a floor with custom-made panels. To complete the exclusive experience, the designer supplies a suitable picnic box and two umbrellas that are finished with the same red leather.

Order

According to van Roij, the Latin name Adventum emphasizes the character of the car, because it stands for “adventurous” and “arriving”. It does not promise to become a mass product, but Niels van Roij can make a similar car on assignment. “Because it is coach building, I can adjust every detail as desired. For example, all colors of leather are possible, we can work with other alloy wheels and I can redesign the fuel cap, for example. ” The cost of such a project? € 270,000 (excluding taxes) please! The car is included in this price.
