Touch of shooting brake

In the market for an electric station wagon? Then remember Nio for a moment. The Chinese manufacturer comes with an electric station wagon based on the ET5!
The MG 5 Electric was the first electric station wagon in Europe, but that relatively practical MG does not have the empire alone for long. Opel is coming with an electric Astra Sportstourer, the Peugeot e-308 SW is on the horizon and Volkswagen seems to be coming up with a Variant of the yet to be revealed ID7 in the long term. Although they are not all competitors, the segment of the electric ‘wagon’ is suddenly much busier. Nio hooks up. AutoWeek can show you the first photos of the station wagon based on the electric Nio ET5.
In recent months, AutoWeek has shown you a whole bunch of new electric models from Nio, including the EC6 and the ES6, the photos and the first information of which we surfaced in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Transport and Information Technology. From there we have surfaced this station wagon. The Nio ET5 ‘Wagon’ – or ‘Shooting Brake’ if you prefer that term for a sleek station wagon – measures 4.79 meters in length, 1.96 meters wide and 1.5 meters high. This means that it has exactly the same dimensions as the ET5 as you now only know it as a sedan. That does not make the Nio ET5 Wagon a pack mule, although the larger tailgate does make loading easier.

Although the rear of the new ET5 Wagon is somewhat reminiscent of that of the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo, everything is just neatly topped with the design sauce that Nio pours over all its models. However, the shape of the rear lights differs from those on the ET5 Sedan. According to its registration data, the copy visible in the photos has a 204 hp electric motor on the front axle and a copy of 286 hp on the rear axle. We know that powertrain from the ET5 Sedan and in that car it is combined with a 75-kWh or 100-kWh battery pack and gives it a range of 445 and 580 kilometers respectively. In China, this new ET5 variant will in any case face competition from the Zeekr 001, which should also come to Europe in due course.
