Opening of the first European factory in Hungary

Nio is preparing for European expansion. The Chinese EV manufacturer is going to open its first European factory. Nio also says that it wants to enter the Dutch market this year, among other things.
It was already known that Nio was preparing for a European expansion. It was just not clear when we could expect the Chinese Nio here. Nio still does not give an exact date, but at least the Chinese now say that they will offer their models and extended services ‘the second half of this year’ in the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden and Denmark. It is not yet clear which models these will be. In any case, the ES7 seems an interesting candidate for the European market, but the larger ES8 and the sedans ET5 and ET7 may also be headed our way.
An important factor for the expansion is the Nio Power Europe Plant in Hungary. It is Nio’s first European factory, but the brand will not build any cars there. Instead, it is a production and development center for Nio’s battery changing stations and fast chargers, among other things. Under the heading ‘Nio Power’, the Chinese want to further roll out that network in Europe. In Norway, where Nio has been active for some time, there are already a number of these exchange stations. Nio drivers can not only pick up a fully charged battery there, but also opt for a larger or smaller battery. Whether that will catch on here remains to be seen, but it’s an interesting concept in any case.
