‘Nissan ‘400Z’ is not coming to Europe’

The successor to the Nissan 370Z, which is probably called 400Z, is not coming to Europe. At least that’s what the usually well-entered Automobilwoche understood from someone within the brand.

The relatively affordable sports coupe is almost extinct in our part of the world. Unfortunately, Nissan’s next ‘Z’ won’t change that, it seems. The production version of the Nissan Z Proto, mentioned in the corridors 400Z, will make its public debut in August, just not here. Not even at a later date.

It is not very surprising, we already took it into account. Also the statement that Automobilwoche from Nissan makes a lot of sense: “Due to a declining sports car market in Europe and specific emissions regulations, it is impossible for Nissan to put a business model on a production version of the next Z model in Europe.” The CO2 tax and the limited expected demand are killing it for Europe.

We will probably miss out on a very nice car. The name ‘400Z’ does not come out of the blue, because the Nissan is expected to get 400 hp power at its disposal. That would come from a 4.0-liter biturbo V6 that Nissan pulls off the shelves of luxury brand Infiniti. Undoubtedly a power source that, thanks to the bpm here in the Netherlands, also had a hefty price tag, so Nissan’s decision is certainly understandable. Still, we hope some Europeans are excited enough to get some 400Z’s this way.
