Nissan Fairlady X: Nissan Z and Murano in the blender

If a crossover is a mishmash of different segments, then the all-new Nissan Fairlady X fits that category like no other. We are dealing with what appears to be an SUV version of the new Nissan Z!

Seems, indeed. Although the Nissan Fairlady X in these photos has the front of the Nissan Z and has the same lighting at the rear as that sports coupe, it is in fact not a Nissan Z at all. We are dealing here with a Nissan Murano where a modified front and a modified tailgate is screwed in. But we hear you thinking: ‘why does this exist?’

Nissan Fairlady X.

Good question, but we can answer it. The Fairlady X in these photos is not a creation of the product planners, but of clever study balls from the Nissan Automobile Technical College where students can follow training. Although not all body parts seem to fit together nicely, the Nissan Fairlady X doesn’t even look that crazy. After all, if Ford gets away with an SUV called Mustang that takes design cues from its sports coupe, why couldn’t it? It is very likely that Nissan will not come up with a new stubborn variant of the Murano. It did that earlier with the Murano CrossCabriolet, a convertible based on the previous (second) generation Murano. It was not equally warmly received everywhere.
