North American Charging Standard

It looks increasingly likely that Tesla’s “North American Charging Standard” will be just what its name implies. Nissan is now also switching to it, following the example of various other manufacturers.
Tesla’s North American Charging Standard is rapidly becoming the new charging standard in North America. After Ford, General Motors, Rivian and Volvo, Nissan is now around. Nissan will be the first Japanese manufacturer to use NACS chargers. Starting in the new year, all Nissan Ariyas will receive a NACS adapter as standard. They are therefore not yet equipped with a NACS charging port as standard, the Japanese only go that far a year later. Then all electric Nissans delivered in the US and Canada will receive it as standard.
Tesla’s American Supercharger network consists of no less than 12,000 fast chargers, which is a welcome addition for those who drive an electric Nissan. In the US, the CCS1 and NACS charging connections exist side by side, while Tesla does open up its fast chargers to EVs from other brands. With more and more manufacturers embracing NACS, sooner or later things will get a lot busier at the Tesla fast chargers. Here in the Netherlands, both Teslas and the majority of other electric cars use standard CCS2 ports.
