Nissan Magnite is new compact crossover

Nissan has pulled the curtain on a brand new crossover. Autoland is digitally introduced to the Magnite, a just under 4 meters long crossover that is a lot smaller than the Juke.

In the middle of this year, Nissan fired the first photos of the Magnite Concept at the world, a preview of a new compact crossover. Today the Magnite Concept loses its baby down and dries like Magnite without ‘concept addition’. We can calm down those who can no longer see the forest in cross-overland for the trees. The Magnite has been specifically developed for growth markets and is therefore not coming to the Netherlands. The compact SUV does come to various African countries and is potentially an important player, especially in India.

The Nissan Magnite is almost four meters long, which makes it a whopping 21 centimeters shorter than the Nissan Juke and even 23 centimeters shorter than the Captur of alliance partner Renault. That is good news for the Indian consumer. In India, the road tax for cars shorter than four meters is just as favorable. Because the Magnite is a lot shorter than the Juke, for example – and also has to be put on the market a lot cheaper – we do not find the CMF-B platform well-known in Europe under the robustly designed body of the Magnite. No, the Magnite is on the CMF-A base that Renault uses under the Triber and the Kwid. Indeed, the Dacia Spring presented last week is also on a version of that modular CMF-A platform. On the engine list will be a blown 1.0 that delivers about 95 hp. The machine can be connected to a manual five-speed gearbox and an X-Tronic CVT automatic transmission.

In terms of design, the Magnite fits well between its international Nissan siblings. Still, the Indian Magnite rider will notice little resemblance to other Nissans in the homeland. Since the discontinuation of the Terrano, a Dacia Duster of the previous generation with a Nissan face, Nissan only offers the GT-R and the Kicks. In that respect, the Magnite is a very welcome newcomer. The Magnite has a hefty chrome-framed grille, aggressive-looking flat sights and LED daytime running lights in its bumper, copied from the facelifted Redi-Go. LED headlights are available as an option, the same applies to LED fog lights. The luggage compartment of the Magnite has a capacity of 336 liters. In the interior, an optional 8-inch large infotainment system and a 7-inch TFT screen in the instrumentation provide a modern interior for a car in this segment.
