Nissan NV300 Combi gets a facelift

The Nissan NV300 gets a facelift. Nissan’s sister model of the Renault Trafic will have a thoroughly redesigned front, but will also be fitted with a completely new interior.

Nissan conjured up the NV300 in 2016 as the successor to the Primastar. Just like the Primastar, the NV300 also shares its genes with the Renault Trafic, although the NV300 is of course based on the current Trafic. Renault put its Trafic on the cutting table last year and now it’s Nissan that is upgrading the NV300 in a similar way. Nissan currently only speaks of a facelifted NV300 Combi, the passenger version of the NV300. Unlike the order version, the NV300 Combi is not available in the Netherlands. The additional orderer will undoubtedly follow later.

As with the Trafic, the entire front of the NV300 Combi will be overhauled. The facelifted NV300 Combi includes completely new LED headlights that look a lot flatter and sleeker than the huge ones on the outgoing version. It doesn’t stop there. The NV300 Combi gets a larger, more angular grille that runs further down the nose. The whole is framed by a chrome-colored ornament that – strikingly enough – is an inverse variation on Nissan’s famous V-Motion theme. Nissan has also given the NV300 Combi a new bumper with more angular openings and a new, more curved bonnet. You have to look for the changes on the back with a magnifying glass. Nissan only gives the bus darker rear light units.

The dashboard of the NV300 Combi is completely renewed. Here too, it is done with the convex, round shapes. Although the front of the renewed NV300 Combi clearly differs from that of its Trafic brother, the Nissan does inherit the entire interior of its French relative. A now separate infotainment screen protrudes centrally from the center console. Underneath a row of push buttons and rotary knobs for the climate control. The steering wheel and instruments are also completely new. The NV300 Combi is available in various markets with 5, 6, 8 and even 9 seats. The NV300 Combi also benefits from the arrival of new safety systems, such as blind spot detection, Lane Departure Warning, traffic sign recognition and adaptive cruise control.

The NV300 Combi comes with three power versions of the 2.0 dCi diesel engine. There is a manual variant with 110 hp, a 150 hp version that is available with both manual and automatic transmission and a 170 hp version that can only be linked to an automatic transmission.

The Renault Trafic previously had Opel and Vauxhall brothers in the form of the Vivaro. Not long after Opel fell under the wing of Groupe PSA, the Vivaro was succeeded by a new generation based on the Citroën Jumpy. Fiats version of the current Trafic, the Talento, is no longer in production. In Australia and New Zealand, Mitsubishi also has a Trafic variant on the menu: the Express.
