Nissan is pulling the curtain this week from a Qashqai renewed to the smallest bolt. Nissan’s popular SUV is entering its third generation, but before that, Nissan will present us with a digital teaser.
Nissan has quite a bit of teaser taste. The brand today adds a new chapter to the warm-up campaign around the new Qashqai, a car that will debut on February 18. In a new teaser video, Nissan shows, among other things, the rear light of its new SUV. No one will be completely disappointed about the design, as previously released images of the third generation Qashqai.
It is no wonder that the design of the new Qashqai will not be up to anyone, given the popularity of the current Qashqai. Nissan is again trying to appeal to the widest possible group of consumers and it is expected that a large proportion of buyers will already drive Qashqai.
Nissan Qashqai
Although Nissan releases little new information about the third generation Qashqai, a lot is already known about the model. The car will be on a completely new platform, but the greatest novelty is perhaps the e-Power powertrain with which the car will be available. The Qashqai e-Power is always electrically powered, but it is not an EV. The e-Power powertrain consists of a 157 hp 1.5 turbo engine with variable compression, a petrol engine that supplies a 2 kWh small battery pack with electric power. The electric motor that draws its energy from this is 190 hp and 330 Nm strong. According to Nissan, the Qashqai e-Power responds just as directly to the accelerator as a full-fledged EV. There should hardly be any noticeable transitions between the petrol and electric motor. Another advantage of the powertrain: according to Nissan, you benefit from the same linear acceleration as an EV. In addition, the petrol engine would run in its most efficient speed range much more often than with a regular hybrid. Average combined consumption should be 5.3 l / 100 km, according to Nissan.
Nissan will soon also supply the new Qashqai with two mild hybrid powertrains. There will be a 140 hp and 240 Nm strong mild-hybrid 1.3 DIG-T with a manual six-speed gearbox and a 158 hp and 260 Nm powerful version of the same 1.3 that is available with both manual and automatic transmission. The version with Xtronic automatic transmission, a CV that simulates the presence of gears when the accelerator pedal is pressed more than halfway, is 10 Nm stronger and is also available with all-wheel drive at an additional cost.
Later this week we will know all about the new Qashqai. Want to read more about the new Nissan Qashqai? That is possible here, here and here!
