Venucia ready for second phase

While Renault seems to take hydrogen technology quite seriously, we hardly encounter the cup at alliance partner Nissan among the points of attention for the coming years. In China, however, Nissan does have a nose for hydrogen via a detour!
With the Scénic Vision, Renault showed an interesting preview of a new SUV that you can expect on the market in 2024 last year. The study model had an electric powertrain with a relatively small battery of 40 kWh. To compensate, the Scénic Vision was equipped with a fuel cell that could increase the range of 250 kilometers by the same number of kilometers. So there is plenty of attention for hydrogen at Renault, but alliance partner Nissan is still relatively quiet in that area. In Europe at least, Nissan is starting a real hydrogen adventure in China.

The Dongfeng Nissan partnership – in which both Dongfeng and Nissan have a 50 percent stake – is the company behind the Chinese brand Venucia. That sells and sells, among other things, various models based on Renaults and Nissans with a more proprietary bodywork in China. Think of the Dacia Spring/Renault K-ZE based e30 and the T70 based on Qashqai. The delivery range currently includes several combustion engine cars, but Venucia is now announcing a new phase in its life. It will concentrate completely on electrified or electric cars and so from now on no new Venucias will be marketed with only a combustion engine under the hood.
From now on, Venucia wants to launch two new ‘new energy vehicles’ on the market every year. This includes EVs, but also hybrids and even cars with a fuel cell on board. All those newcomers should increase Venucia’s sales considerably. The company wants to be able to sell up to half a million cars annually. It already shows two newcomers. The first is the Venucia Ve Concept, an electric study model on the new 800v EV platform. The second is ostensibly a new hybrid version of the V. Venucia describes the model as ‘a super hybrid’ with its DD-i called plug-in hybrid powertrain. It consists of, among other things, a blown 1.5 and must consume only 4 l/100 km.
