While Carlos Ghosn is trying to get his case right from Lebanon in the scandal in which he is entangled with Nissan, Nissan officially denounces the fallen chief. The Japanese want to convert more than € 83 million stories on Ghosn.
Former Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn was locked in Japan in 2018 for alleged fraud at Nissan and tax evasion. The 65-year-old was allowed to await trial in his home in Tokyo after a period in prison, but managed to escape from Japan at the end of last year. Ghosn appeared in Lebanon. From there, he is now trying to prove his innocence and to obtain financial compensation to which he claims to be entitled. Nissan sees it, not entirely surprising, totally different. The brand announces that it will sue Ghosn for an amount of no less than € 83.3 million.
According to Nissan, that is the amount that Ghosn managed to darken. That is what the business is about. Nissan continues the process unabated, while Ghosn tries to get rid of it at all costs. While Nissan wants to see more than € 80 million, Ghosn in turn wants to receive € 15 million in damages from Nissan-Mitsubishi. For the time being, Ghosn plays it through his lawyers and via the Netherlands and Lebanon does not cooperate in any extradition to Japan. In an official statement, Nissan said it was “putting more effort into the trial” because of Ghosn’s fleeing from Japan.
