Tesla at 1

You probably already knew that electric cars are popular in Norway. How popular exactly, is apparent from the sales over the whole of 2022. The figures are now known and do not lie.
Why should we take a moment to look at the sales figures in Norway? Well, that’s where things go remarkably fast with electric driving. In Norway, electric driving has been on the rise for several years and in 2021 new fully electric cars will already have a sales share of 64.5 percent. In 2022, there was a huge shovel on top of that, it now appears. The Norwegian equivalent of the RDW, the OFV, has announced that last year 79.3 percent of new cars sold were fully electric. After that, hybrid cars were the most popular, with a share of 14 percent. New cars with only a fuel engine accounted for only 6.7 percent of sales (3.6 percent petrol and 3.1 percent diesel). A total of 174,329 passenger cars were sold.
The Tesla Model Y is the biggest party number in Norway. With 17,356, that was the best-selling car last year, which helped the Model Y break a 53-year-old record. The Volkswagen ID4 follows with 11,561 in second place, the Skoda Enyaq (7,558 units), BMW iX (6,395 units) and Volvo XC40 (5,507) complete the top five. In sixth place we find the first car not available with a fully electric powertrain: the Toyota Yaris (5,381 units). Tesla was the most sold brand for the second year in a row, taking a market share of 12.2 percent in 2022, followed by Volkswagen with 11.6 percent and BMW with 8.1 percent. Earlier today we were able to report that Hyundai is already stopping sales of cars with a fuel engine in Norway. That is quite understandable with these sales figures in mind.
